Job summary

Downer Group is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Water team, based in Walloon and/or Fortitude Valley, QLD. You will provide technical expertise to deliver water and wastewater construction projects across SE Queensland with a proactive safety approach.

Reporting to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager, you will manage subcontractors, support planning and cost forecasting, and drive quality and constructability improvements in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Civil, Mechanical and/ or Structural Engineering Qualification.
• At least three years of project engineering experience in water or wastewater in SE Queensland.
• Experience managing subcontractors.
• Experience developing scopes of work and subcontract agreements.
• Experience budgeting, budgeting reporting and financial management.
• Experience developing and managing project schedules.
• Strong focus on quality outcomes in project delivery.
• Clear and concise communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to adapt to changing project environments.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical advice and support to project delivery teams.
• Supporting project planning, design reviews and constructability assessments.
• Assisting with project budgets, cost reporting and forecasting.
• Monitoring project schedules, performance and progress.
• Managing subcontractors and reviewing progress claims and variations.
• Supporting procurement activities and engagement of suppliers/subcontractors.
• Driving quality outcomes throughout project delivery.
• Identifying opportunities for value engineering and improved constructability.
• Ensuring community, environmental, operational and maintenance requirements are considered.
• Demonstrating strong safety leadership and supporting Zero Harm commitments.
