Job summary

Downer Group is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Water team based in Walloon and/or Fortitude Valley, QLD. You will provide technical expertise to support the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Reporting to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager, you will contribute to planning, design reviews, constructability assessments, budgets and schedules, while ensuring safety and quality throughout project delivery.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural discipline.
• At least 3 years of project engineering experience in water or wastewater in SE Queensland.
• Experience managing subcontractors and developing scopes of work.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting and cost reporting for projects.
• Experience developing and managing project schedules.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing project environments while maintaining attention to detail.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical advice and support to project delivery teams
• Supporting project planning, design reviews and constructability assessments
• Assisting with project budgets, cost reporting and forecasting
• Monitoring project schedules, performance and progress
• Managing subcontractors and reviewing progress claims and variations
• Supporting procurement activities and the engagement of suppliers and subcontractors
• Driving quality outcomes throughout project delivery
• Identifying opportunities for value engineering and improved constructability
• Ensuring community, environmental, operational and maintenance requirements are considered throughout project delivery
• Demonstrating strong safety leadership and supporting our Zero Harm commitments

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Civil, Mechanical and/ or Structural Engineering Qualification
• At least three years of project engineering experience within the water or wastewater industry in South East Queensland
• Experience managing subcontractors
• Experience developing scopes of work and subcontract agreements
• Demonstrated financial management, budgeting and reporting experience
• Experience developing and managing project schedules
• A strong focus on quality outcomes in project delivery
• Clear and concise communication skills
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a changing project environment
