Job summary

Shire of Banana is seeking a practical Utilities Assistant to help operate and maintain Council’s water and sewerage treatment facilities. You will monitor processes, collect samples and assist with routine repairs to ensure safe, continuous supply across the Shire.

The role requires a C-class driver’s licence, WHS awareness, and a commitment to customer service and teamwork. Weekend/on-call work may be required at various treatment sites.

Qualifications

• General labouring experience is required.
• Genuine interest in water and wastewater treatment.
• Computer and keyboard skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Customer service experience.
• Strong teamwork abilities.
• Understanding of EEO and WHS principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation, maintenance and repair of water supply and sewerage infrastructure.
• Monitor treatment process parameters and dosing requirements.
• Collect samples for analysis and undertake routine analyses.
• Respond to operational changes to maintain treated water/wastewater quality.
• Update log sheets, asset records and monthly reports.
• Utilise SCADA/Telemetry to monitor parameters and alarms.
