Job summary

Banana Shire Council in Central Queensland is seeking a hands-on operator to assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of water supply and sewerage infrastructure. You will monitor process parameters, collect samples, respond to alarms, maintain log sheets, and assist contractors while upholding WHS and quality standards.

Compulsory licences include a Queensland C class driver licence and White Card; desirable Certificate III in Water Industry and proven labouring experience with strong

Qualifications

• Queensland C class driver licence (minimum requirement - provisional licence).
• General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) Certification (White Card).
• Certificate III in Water Industry or commitment to undertake and complete this qualification.
• General labouring experience.
• Genuine interest in water and wastewater treatment.
• Computer and keyboard skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Customer service skills and experience.
• Water and wastewater treatment operational experience (Desirable).
• Specialist maintenance knowledge of water and wastewater equipment (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation, maintenance and repair of water supply and sewerage infrastructure.
• Monitor treatment process parameters and dosing requirements.
• Collect samples for analysis and undertake routine analyses.
• Respond to operational changes to maintain supply to standards.
• Assist with log sheets, asset records and monthly reports.
• Update SWIMs with tasks and results.
• Use SCADA/Telemetry to monitor parameters and respond to alarms.
• Assist in supervising contractors and other staff as required.
• Undertake routine administrative tasks (e.g., timesheets).
• Support continuous improvement of work processes.
