Job summary

The Senior Treatment Plant Operator at Shire of Banana directs the water and wastewater treatment team, overseeing operations and maintenance to ensure safe, compliant and efficient plant performance. You will mentor staff, coordinate contractors, and drive quality reporting and customer service across facilities.

Role requires strong knowledge of water treatment, SCADA systems, and regulatory requirements, with a class C licence and relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

• Compulsory Queensland C class driver's licence (minimum – provisional).
• Compulsory Certificate III in Water/Wastewater Treatment Operations or equivalent.
• Compulsory General Construction Induction Card.
• Desirable Certificate IV or Diploma in Water/Wastewater Treatment Operations.
• Desirable Diploma in Water/Wastewater Treatment Operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor staff to promote high work ethic and development.
• Ensure effective daily/after-hours operation and monitoring of treatment facilities and reporting.
• Coordinate operations to ensure compliance with guidelines and plans.
• Implement procedures to sustain service continuity and compliance.
• Develop and review operational/maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns.
• Respond to enquiries from customers and stakeholders professionally.
• Maintain log sheets, asset records and monthly reports.
• Utilise SCADA/Telemetry to monitor parameters and respond to alarms.
• Assist with data gathering and statutory reporting obligations.
