Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Director, Mechanical Engineer for Water Infrastructure to lead mechanical design delivery on water projects in Australia. This role requires directing multidisciplinary teams, maintaining quality and client satisfaction, and mentoring engineers across our Sydney or Newcastle offices.

You will drive technical excellence, manage complex projects, and foster relationships with clients while contributing to a culture of inclusion and innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; CPEng highly regarded.
• Extensive mechanical design experience in water and/or wastewater in a dynamic consulting environment.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and multidisciplinary teams with strong commercial acumen and business analysis skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Commercial and strategic acumen balancing profitability, efficiency, and market insight.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review mechanical design delivery across major water, wastewater, and conveyance projects.
• Ensure technical and delivery excellence with high quality, safety, governance and client satisfaction.
• Guide and mentor engineers and designers to grow talent while delivering technical excellence.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships across sectors.
