Job summary

John Morris Group is seeking a capable Warehouse Lead (2IC) to act as the Warehouse Manager's second-in-command. The role is hands-on, leading from the floor, and stepping up to run the team when the Manager is away.

You will manage on-floor operations, prioritise orders, and uphold safety and productivity across receiving, picking, packing, and dispatch activities. This is a small, busy team with real impact and growth prospects.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse or logistics, ideally as leading hand or 2IC.
• Strong receiving, dispatch, pick/pack and inventory control knowledge.
• Proficient with a WMS and basic computer tasks.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, packing and dispatch on the floor with the team.
• Maintain stock accuracy through cycle counts and investigations.
• Operate forklift and materials handling equipment safely.
• Set daily priorities to meet deliveries and KPIs.
• Lead in the Manager's absence and keep operations running.
• Keep site safe and tidy for staff, visitors and contractors.
• Identify practical improvements to workflow, safety, accuracy and productivity.

Job description

You'll be second-in-charge to the Warehouse Manager — their right hand day to day, and the person who steps up and runs the team of two when they're on leave. This is a hands-on role where you lead from the floor, get on with the job, and can confidently run the warehouse when the Warehouse Manager is away.

Key responsibilities

• Receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, packing and dispatch — on the floor, alongside the team
• Keeping stock accurate: cycle counts, stock investigations and clean system transactions in the WMS
• Operating the forklift and materials handling equipment safely
• Setting the daily priorities with the team so customer deliveries and warehouse KPIs are met
• Taking the lead when the Manager is away — keeping the place running, the team supported and the work out the door
• Keeping the site safe and tidy, and making sure staff, visitors and contractors do the same
• Finding the better way — practical improvements to workflow, safety, accuracy and productivity

About you

• Experience in a warehouse, distribution or logistics environment — ideally as a leading hand, 2IC or senior storeperson
• Solid grounding in receiving, dispatch, pick/pack, inventory control and warehouse housekeeping
• Comfortable with a warehouse management system and everyday computer work
• Accurate and detail-focused, even when it's busy
• Able to direct, coach and back up team members — clearly, and without throwing your weight around
• Genuinely committed to safety, manual handling and safe operating procedures
• Physically fit and able to safely lift and move products up to 20kg
• Reliable, self-motivated, and good at working out what matters most today
