CSIRO's Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong, VIC, seeks a Laboratory Diagnostic Virologist to perform quality‑assured diagnostic testing for viral pathogens in a high‑containment setting, supporting livestock and animal health.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, contribute to assay development and validation, interpret results, and help equip Australia for emergency animal disease preparedness, including after-hours roster.

Formación

• Bachelor of Science with honours or equivalent in Biological Sciences or related discipline.
• Experience conducting and coordinating laboratory-based experiments or tests.
• Ability to plan and schedule laboratory work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and data documentation.
• Commitment to health, safety and wellbeing, Zero Harm.

Responsabilidades

• Support and deliver quality assured diagnostic testing services (NATA/ISO 17025) for a broad range of viral pathogens and exclude emergency animal diseases.
• Contribute to quality assurance requirements, including reporting and authorising tests, maintaining up-to-date test records, and proficiency testing.
• Undertake diagnostic and innocuity testing activities under technical direction, prioritising work to meet testing demands.
• Collaborate with team leaders, veterinarians and senior scientists to support testing activities.
• Undertake test development, evaluation and validation work under team leadership.
