Job summary

CSIRO’s Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong seeks a Laboratory Diagnostic Virologist to perform diagnostic testing for diverse viral pathogens in a high-containment environment. You will work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to assay development, validation and disease surveillance to support national animal health and biosecurity objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree with honours, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Experience conducting and coordinating laboratory-based experiments or tests, with ability to plan and schedule work.
• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems in a timely, technically sound manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality-assured diagnostic testing for a broad range of viral pathogens (NATA/ISO 17025).
• Participate in test development, evaluation and validation under technical direction.
• Contribute to infectious disease preparedness and response activities, including after-hours roster.
