Job summary

CSIRO’s Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong, VIC is seeking a Research Technician - Insectary to establish, maintain and characterise mosquito and other arthropod colonies. You will contribute to vector biology research, perform infection, dissection and molecular techniques, and support experimental studies while managing data, records and day-to-day insectary operations.

Qualifications

• A degree in science or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience in entomology including arthropod handling and species identification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with collaborators.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail with accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to meet Special ACDP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Establish, optimise and maintain colonies of mosquitoes and other arthropods to support research.
• Conduct arthropod identification, imaging, infection, dissection, molecular techniques.
• Contribute to planning and delivery of research through design, data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Maintain a clean, organised, well-stocked environment and ensure equipment safety.
• Contribute to procurement, receipt and inventory management of Insectary consumables.
• Maintain records and improve procedures to meet regulatory standards.
