Job summary

Oxley Highway Vet Hospital is seeking a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly, experienced team. You will provide exceptional medical and surgical nursing care, assist veterinarians, monitor anaesthesia and support clients with clear updates.

The role is a full-time maternity-leave contract with potential for ongoing employment. A $2,500 sign-on bonus and relocation support are available to the right candidate, along with a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a qualified Veterinary Nurse.
• Strong medical and surgical nursing skills.
• Confidence monitoring anaesthesia.
• Excellent patient handling and client service skills.
• Ability to stay calm, organized and proactive in a busy hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during consultations, examinations and procedures.
• Provide high-quality surgical and hospital nursing care.
• Monitor anaesthesia and support patients during surgery.
• Deliver pre- and post-operative patient care.
• Administer medications and prepare treatments.
• Manage patient admissions and discharges.
• Communicate treatment plans and patient updates with clients.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging including X-rays and ultrasound.
• Support dental procedures, including scale and polish and dental radiography.
• Provide compassionate care during challenging and end-of-life situations.
• Collaborate to achieve the best patient outcomes.
