Job summary

The Animal Referral Hospital Brisbane is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Nurse to join our Specialist Oncology team on a full-time maternity leave contract. This hands-on role focuses on high-quality patient care within a fast-paced specialty hospital.

You will work with our oncology specialists, enjoy on-the-job training, and have opportunities for continued education, with above-award remuneration and staff perks including discounts and an employee assistance program.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in veterinary nursing and/or BAppSc (Veterinary Technology) degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years nursing experience in a busy general practice or experience in referral (specialist hospital) or emergency nursing.
• A strong work ethic, the ability to work efficiently and multi-task, and to work independently and as part of a team.
• The desire and ability to deliver consistently high quality of patient care even in busy conditions.
• Excellent communication skills.

Our purpose-designed, state of the art hospital houses our specialty services, including small animal surgery, internal medicine, neurology, surgical and medical oncology, advanced imaging, and a 24/7 emergency and critical care service. The successful Candidate will possess:

• Certificate IV in veterinary nursing and/or BAppSc (Veterinary Technology) degree or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years nursing experience in a busy general practice or experience in referral (specialist hospital) or emergency nursing
• A strong work ethic, the ability to work efficiently and multi-task, and to work independently and as part of a team
• The desire and ability to deliver consistently high quality of patient care even in busy conditions
• Excellent communication skills

Desirable Attributes:

• Diploma of Veterinary Nursing or equivalent further training
• Sound knowledge and experience in anaesthetic monitoring, oncology nursing and patient care
• Experience in an emergency and/or specialist hospital
• Knowledge of RX works, Smartflow and Idexx blood machines
