Northern College of the Arts and Technology (NCAT) in Preston, VIC, seeks an experienced VET Building & Construction Teacher for a 0.6 FTE role starting at the beginning of the 2027 school year. The position involves delivering quality carpentry instruction to Years 10–12, assessing student progress, and collaborating with staff to enhance outcomes.

Applicants should have trade qualifications in building and construction (Carpentry), plus a TAE Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.

Northern College of the Arts and Technology – Preston VIC

We are seeking an experienced Building & Construction Teacher to join our team at the Northern College of the Arts & Technology in Preston from the beginning of the 2027 school year. This is a 0.6 role, where you will play an important role in helping to shape the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

NCAT has unique, cutting edge trades and technology facilities which includes a trade training centre with extensive workshop spaces for Building & Construction, Engineering, Electro-technology, Integrated Technologies, Automotive, Furniture/Woodwork areas including a specialist Musical Instrument Making & Repair area and a dedicated Plumbing area.

Key responsibilities

• Delivering quality instruction in building and construction to Years 10-12 students
• Assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback
• Collaborating with colleagues to continuously improve teaching methods and student outcomes
• Ensuring a safe and productive learning environment for all students

About you

• Experience working as a qualified tradesperson in the building and construction industry
• Must have completed a Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent
• Have completed or be in the process of completing a TAE Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
• A passion for education and working with young people
• A team-oriented approach and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
