Job summary

Saltwater Busselton invites applications for a casual Venue Technician to join our team, supporting technical and backstage operations for theatre shows, conferences, community events, and gallery exhibitions.

You will install and operate lighting, audio, staging, and AV, collaborating with hirers to ensure smooth, professional, and memorable events across the precinct.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a theatre/event technician.
• Proficiency in computer systems, network maintenance and computing skills.
• Proficiency in either lighting, audio, staging or gallery operations.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A positive attitude and flexible approach to tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist venue hirers with technical requirements and deliver high‑quality event support.
• Rig and operate lighting, audio, and AV systems.
• Set up staging, furniture, and equipment for events across the precinct.
• Support the installation of gallery exhibitions.
• Maintain strong communication with hirers, staff, and contractors.
• Complete event Risk Assessments and follow WHS procedures.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and compliance checks.
• Work collaboratively with Technical Services and Front of House teams.

Pre-employment requirements:

• Current C Class drivers' licence
• Proof of right to work in Australia
• Construction Safety Awareness Training Card (White Card).
• Work Safely at Heights Certificate

Hours and conditions:

This role is casual and the working days and times are expected to vary between day and evening shifts, including weekends.
