Job summary

Contour Education in Melbourne is seeking tutors for VCE Chemistry or VCE Physics to lead engaging group classes of 8–20 students. You will teach content, coach exam strategy, and mentor learners, helping them excel in assessments and build confidence.

You'll bring university-level knowledge, strong communication, and a passion for education. The role offers evening/weekend hours and opportunities for growth within Contour's campuses.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Chemistry or Physics at first-year university level or above.
• 6+ classes per week, across a full academic year.
• 99+ ATAR and 43+ study score in VCE Chemistry or Physics is highly desirable.

We are hiring Tutors for either VCE Chemistry OR VCE Physics (you do not need to teach both!). If you excelled in either subject and want to help students do the same, we have Tutor roles for each subject available for our new Epping campus! Bring your energy, ambition, and a love of the subject. You'll inspire students, grow as a communicator and leader, and pass on your passion to the next generation of high achievers.

What you’ll do

You’ll teach a group of students content and application, and help them work through difficult questions:

• Teach – intuitively teach subject content to a full class of 8–20 students
• Coach – study skills and exam strategy
• Mentor – share your own experiences and form genuine connections
• Connect – build relationships that inspire students to keep going

For example, you might teach two classes on Monday and two on Tuesday (4:15–6:15pm and 6:45–8:45pm), plus two on Saturday morning (10:00am–12:00pm and 12:30–2:30pm).

What you’ll bring

• Strong communication and a knack for making hard concepts click
• Knowledge of Chemistry or Physics at first-year university level or above
• A 99+ ATAR and a 43+ study score in VCE Chemistry or Physics (highly desirable, not required)
• 6+ classes per week, committed across a full academic year (around 12+ hours weekly)
• Energy, empathy, and a desire to help students
• Alignment with Contour's mission (non-compete agreement required)
