Job summary

Contour Education in Melbourne’s Epping campus is seeking tutors for VCE Chemistry or VCE Physics. You’ll lead engaging group classes of 8–20 students, help them master concepts and excel in assessments, and share your passion for learning.

Pay starts at $90 per class, rising to $140+ per class with bonuses; most tutors earn $130–$220+ per class including bonuses. You’ll receive paid training, choose your schedule, and have opportunities to advance into senior tutoring roles or leadership.

• Strong communication skills and ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Knowledge of Chemistry or Physics at first-year university level or above.
• Desirable: 99+ ATAR and 43+ study score in VCE Chemistry or Physics.
• Commitment to teaching across a full academic year and multiple classes per week.

We are hiring Tutors for either VCE Chemistry OR VCE Physics (you do not need to teach both!). If you excelled in either subject and want to help students do the same, we have Tutor roles for each subject available for our new Epping campus! Bring your energy, ambition, and a love of the subject. You'll inspire students, grow as a communicator and leader, and pass on your passion to the next generation of high achievers.

What you'll do

You’ll teach a group of students content and application, and help them work through difficult questions:

• Teach – intuitively teach subject content to a full class of 8–20 students
• Coach – study skills and exam strategy
• Mentor – share your own experiences and form genuine connections
• Connect – build relationships that inspire students to keep going

For example, you might teach two classes on Monday and two on Tuesday (4:15–6:15pm and 6:45–8:45pm), plus two on Saturday morning (10:00am–12:00pm and 12:30–2:30pm).

What you’ll bring

• Strong communication and a knack for making hard concepts click
• Knowledge of Chemistry or Physics at first-year university level or above
• A 99+ ATAR and a 43+ study score in VCE Chemistry or Physics (highly desirable, not required)
• 6+ classes per week , committed across a full academic year (around 12+ hours weekly)
• Energy, empathy, and a desire to help students
• Alignment with Contour's mission (non-compete agreement required)
