Job summary

McArthur seeks an experienced Tree Management Officer to lead inspections and assessments of public tree assets in Western Sydney. You will guide health, risk and maintenance decisions and support community engagement with urban forest programs.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications in Arboriculture or a closely related field.
  • Strong practical and technical experience in tree management.
  • Experience assessing tree health, condition, maintenance and risk.
  • Sound knowledge of arboricultural practices and urban tree management.
  • Confidence providing professional advice to residents, contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Current Class C driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect Council-owned trees and identify maintenance requirements.
  • Assess tree health, condition and potential hazards.
  • Provide technical advice on tree management matters to residents, staff and stakeholders.
  • Assist with Tree Preservation Order applications and related inspections.
  • Investigate incidents involving street, park and Council trees.
  • Support street tree planting and replacement programs.
  • Program and monitor arboriculture and tree-related works.
  • Prepare recommendations, correspondence, inspection records and reports.
  • Liaise with contractors and monitor works to ensure standards are met.
  • Undertake risk and hazard assessments and recommend corrective action.
  • Communicate policies and tree-management requirements to the community.
