Job summary

McArthur is partnering with a major local government organisation in Western Sydney to recruit an experienced Tree Management Officer for a permanent, full-time opportunity. This role sits within City Assets to manage council tree assets safely, professionally and sustainably.

The position goes beyond hands-on maintenance and focuses on arboriculture expertise across tree assessment, urban forest management and community advice.

Qualifications

• Arboriculture qualification or closely related field.
• Strong practical and technical experience in tree management.
• Experience assessing tree health, condition and risk.
• Sound knowledge of arboricultural practices and urban tree management.
• Confidence providing professional advice to residents, contractors and internal stakeholders.
• A current Class C driver’s licence.
• Essential: arboriculture qualifications, extensive tree-management experience and a Class C licence.

Responsibilities

• Inspect Council-owned trees and identify maintenance requirements.
• Assess tree health, condition and potential hazards.
• Provide technical advice on tree management matters to residents, staff and stakeholders.
• Assist with Tree Preservation Order applications and related inspections.
• Investigate incidents involving street, park and Council property trees.
• Support street tree planting and replacement programs.
• Program and monitor arboriculture and tree-related works.
• Prepare recommendations, records and reports; liaise with contractors to meet standards.
• Undertake risk and hazard assessments and recommend corrective action.
• Communicate policies and tree-management requirements to residents and the community.
