Job summary
Northern Star Resources Limited is seeking an Underground Mining Engineer at our Thunderbox operation. You will lead drilling and blasting planning, develop practical plans to meet production targets, and supervise shifts to deliver safe, efficient underground operations.
The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering and 1–2 years of practical underground experience, with proficiency in Deswik UGDB.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering.
- 1–2 years of practical underground mining experience preferred.
- Completion of underground practical time.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and technical guidance to Shift Supervisors and Mine Foremen regarding drilling and blasting schedules, plans and priorities.
- Develop accurate, practical and achievable drill and blast plans to support production targets and schedules.
- Monitor underground production activities to identify opportunities to improve mine designs and productivity.
- Conduct stope performance reviews and back-analysis to drive improvement in drill and blast designs and execution.
- Prepare stope designs for approval by the Senior Production Engineer, maximising ore extraction within constraints.
- Complete stope reconciliations and summarise performance outcomes after stoping activities.
- Support ventilation and production engineering to ensure safe underground operations.
