Job summary

Chinova Resources is seeking an Underground Mine Geologist to join the Mining Team and provide geological support to mining operations through ore control, mapping, sampling and data interpretation. The role collaborates with Production, Survey, Planning, Processing and Exploration teams to maximise ore recovery and minimise dilution.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field, experience in underground/open pit mining geology, and strong knowledge of ore

Chinova Resources is a private Australian resources company owned by the Shanxi Donghui Group of Companies, with principal activities focussed in North‐West Queensland. The company has existing operations at Osborne, south of Cloncurry, as well as several development projects and extensive exploration activity on a large tenement holding in the region. Chinova has other open pit and potential underground projects expected to commence. Key projects include the Osborne copper‑gold processing facility, the world’s highest grade molybdenum and rhenium deposit; and Mount Elliott, our flagship project, which contains one of the largest copper‑gold, mineralised systems discovered in Australia.

We are seeking a motivated Underground Mine Geologist to join the Mining Team, sharing Chinova’s values and its commitment to safety and the environment.

About the role

The Mine Geologist is responsible for providing geological support to mining operations through ore control, geological mapping, sampling and data interpretation activities to ensure safe, efficient and optimal ore extraction. The role supports production teams by delivering accurate geological information, maintaining data integrity and assisting with reconciliation and resource development activities. The position works closely with Mining, Survey, Planning, Processing and Exploration teams to maximise ore recovery, minimise dilution and support operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote a zero‑harm safety culture where all workers and contractors actively participate in hazard identification and risk management
• Ensure compliance with applicable Queensland legislation, Mining and Quarrying Health and Safety Act 1999 (MQSH Act 1999) including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, associated Regulations and Codes of Practice
• Conduct underground geological mapping and inspections
• Perform ore mark‑ups and provide geological guidance to mining crews
• Coordinate and oversee sampling programs including face, chip, channel and grade control sampling
• Monitor ore zones and identify geological structures impacting mining activities
• Ensure accurate collection, logging and validation of geological data
• Maintain geological databases and ensure data quality and integrity
• Assist with reconciliation activities between geological models and production outcomes
• Support production meetings with timely geological updates and recommendations

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in underground and / or open pit mining geology
• Strong understanding of ore control and geological sampling practices
• Gold and Copper experience
• Experience using geological software such as Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine, Deswik or similar
• Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and geological data management
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skillsEffective communication and stakeholder engagement capability
• Current driver's licence
• Highly safety conscious

This is a permanent FIFO opportunity on an 8/6 roster. Our selection process involves interviews, skills assessment, and pre‑employment medical.
