Job summary

Chinova Resources Pty Ltd in North-West Queensland is seeking an experienced Underground Mining Engineer to join the mining team. You will design underground mine layouts, develop development plans, and coordinate with Geology, Survey and Drill and Blast to deliver safe, cost-effective production.

The role focuses on stope design, drill-and-blast planning, and short-term scheduling with a strong emphasis on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent) required.
• Underground hard-rock mining experience preferred.
• Knowledge of stope design and drill-and-blast planning essential.
• Experience with Deswik or similar underground planning software.
• Experience in ventilation planning or coordination is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical mine designs, including development layouts, stopes and drill-and-blast plans.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly production plans aligned with the mine plan, budget and business objectives.
• Optimise stope designs to maximise ore recovery and minimise dilution.
• Work with Geology, Drill and Blast, Survey and Operations to ensure plans are practical, safe and executable.
• Monitor actual performance against schedule and budget, reconcile mined versus planned outcomes, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide technical support to production teams and proactively manage risks to target delivery.
• Contribute to end-of-month reporting, production forecasting and economic evaluations.

Chinova Resources is a private Australian resources company owned by the Shanxi Donghui Group of Companies, with principal activities focussed in North-West Queensland. The company has existing operations at Osborne, south of Cloncurry, as well as several development projects and extensive exploration activity on a large tenement holding in the region. Chinova has other open pit and potential underground projects expected to commence. Key projects include the Osborne copper-gold processing facility, the world’s highest grade molybdenum and rhenium deposit; and Mount Elliott, our flagship project, which contains one of the largest copper-gold, mineralised systems discovered in Australia.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Underground Mining Engineer to join the Mining Team, sharing Chinova’s values and its commitment to safety and the environment.

About the role

Chinova Resources is looking for a motivated, technically capable Mining Engineer to join its underground mining team in Queensland. This is an opportunity to play a key role in mine design, production planning and operational delivery while contributing to a strong safety and continuous improvement culture.

Key responsibilities

Develop practical mine designs, including development layouts, stopes and drill-and-blast plans.

Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly production plans aligned with the mine plan, budget and business objectives.

About you

A degree in Mining Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.

Demonstrated underground hard-rock mining experience, ideally across development and production phases.

Sound knowledge of stope design, drill-and-blast planning, short-term scheduling and production reconciliation.

Experience using underground mine planning software preferably Deswik.

Experience in underground mine ventilation engineering, ventilation planning or coordination of mine ventilation requirements.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Mining Engineering, Geology, Survey, Drill and Blast, Maintenance and Operations.

A strong team-player mindset, contributing positively to a collaborative, inclusive and accountable working environment.

The ability to build constructive working relationships, share knowledge, support colleagues and work towards common production and safety objectives.

A willingness to listen to operational feedback, engage constructively with different perspectives and develop practical solutions as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This is a permanent FIFO opportunity on an 8/6 roster. Our selection process involves interviews, skills assessment, and pre-employment medical.
