Job summary

Macmahon is hiring for an underground drilling role at Mount Carlton Underground Mine in Queensland. You will operate Sandvik longhole drills, adapt to automation, and contribute to production targets with a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in underground drilling with a focus on up-hole drilling.
• Solid understanding of longhole stoping methods and production drilling principles.
• Proven ability to read and interpret mine plans, drill designs, layout and stope instructions.
• Sound knowledge of ground support practices and safe stope entry procedures.
• Strong awareness and application of underground mining safety standards and regulations.
• High Risk Work Licence (EWP, Forklift, Dogging) desirable; Cert III mining desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate Sandvik DL422i and DL432i longhole drill rigs in a safe and efficient manner.
• Utilise advance automation and rig control systems, including iSeries controls on the DL432i.
• Conduct pre-start checks, routine inspections and basic maintenance of drilling equipment.
• Maintain accurate drilling records and production data.
• Collaborate with the underground team to optimise drilling performance and productivity.

• Help teammates, share knowledge and support a strong crew culture.
