Job summary

Glencore Coal's Ulan West mine in NSW is hiring experienced and new-to-industry fitter tradespeople for underground longwall operations. You will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot underground longwall equipment, supporting safe work practices and reliability.

Qualifications

• Underground coal experience is desirable.
• Experience with heavy mobile equipment or underground plant is desirable.
• Strong safety mindset and commitment to safe work practices.
• Good communication skills and a team‑first attitude.
• Ability to obtain site-specific mining certifications and medicals.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot underground longwall and associated equipment.
• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance to high quality and safety standards.
• Follow and contribute to safe work systems, including isolation and lock‑out procedures.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors and operators to optimise production and reliability.
• Support continuous improvement, training and mentoring of less experienced crew.
• Conduct fault finding and diagnostics on complex systems including automated longwall systems and conveyors.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot underground longwall and associated equipment
• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance to high quality and safety standards
• Follow and contribute to safe work systems, including isolation and lock‑out procedures
• Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors and operators to optimise production and reliability
• Support continuous improvement, training and mentoring of less experienced crew
• Conduct effective maintenance practices and carry out fault finding and diagnostics on complex systems including:
• automated longwall systems
• surface and underground conveyors
