Job summary

Glencore Australia is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the Ulan Underground Maintenance Team. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be integral in maintaining underground mining equipment, performing fault-finding, and ensuring safety standards to meet production targets.

The ideal candidate will hold a Mechanical Trade Qualification, bring underground coal experience, and demonstrate strong teamwork, safety focus, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Trade Qualification required.
• Experience in underground mining environments preferred (coal).
• Strong safety focus and risk management understanding.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain underground mining equipment to specified standards to meet targets.
• Manage risks associated with maintenance activities.
• Carry out planned maintenance and scheduling.
• Attend to breakdowns and perform fault-finding.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to achieve safety and performance outcomes.

The Opportunity

Ulan Underground Mine has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the Maintenance Team. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be an integral crew member driving performance through efficient maintenance processes.

About You

As the Mechanical Fitter at Ulan Underground, you will demonstrate technical proficiency through effective maintenance and fault-finding work on mechanical systems and equipment. You will have exceptional teamwork skills, complimented by a positive attitude and a strong safety-focus.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Safely and effectively operate and maintain underground mining equipment and other heavy machinery to a standard and quality required to meet target outputs
• Effectively manage risks associated with maintenance activities
• Carry out planned maintenance and scheduling
• Attend to breakdowns and apply suitable fault-find strategies
• Work with engineering and production personnel to achieve safety and performance outcomes

The ideal candidate has the following skills and experiences:

• Mechanical Trade Qualification
• Strong safety focus with a sound understanding of risk management and safe work procedures
• Exceptional teamwork and communication skills
• Previous experience working underground (preferably coal)
