Job summary

MRAEL has partnered with Peabody Energy to offer an Electrical Apprenticeship at Centurion Mine, Moranbah, commencing January 2027. You will pursue a Certificate III in Electrotechnology while gaining hands-on experience with underground electrical systems.

The role follows a fixed-term roster, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and career development in mining. Local residents are encouraged to apply and Year 12 completion is welcomed.

Qualifications

• Must be physically able to work in an underground mining environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Motivated to learn and develop new skills in electrical trades.
• Must reside within Moranbah, Mackay, or coalfields region.”

Responsibilities

• Complete trade training, workplace competencies and apprenticeship requirements.
• Assist with inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of underground electrical equipment and systems.
• Support planned maintenance activities and breakdown repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
• Develop skills in electrical fault finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Learn to work safely with high- and low-voltage equipment under supervision.
