Job summary

Argo Coal Management is seeking a Workplace Trainer to join the team on-site at Ironbark No.1, reporting to the Health, Safety, Training & Risk Manager. You will deliver high-quality training and conduct assessments for our site workforce, ensuring alignment with internal policies and external compliance standards.

You’ll take a hands-on approach, providing in-field coaching and support to maintain strong training standards across the site.

Qualifications

• Underground coal mining experience is essential.
• TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment is essential.
• Practical underground skills with relevant machinery tickets.
• Strong understanding of training systems and instructional techniques.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage training schedules, resources and logistics.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Experience in delivering hands-on training and assessments.
• Ability to monitor and maintain training quality across crews and assessors.

Responsibilities

• Deliver site inductions and assess new starters for role readiness (e.g. RPL, RCC, challenge testing).
• Support Emergency Response Team training and emergency drills.
• Assist with site and area familiarisations for new personnel.
• Mentor new-to-industry workers through the Inexperienced Mine Worker Program.
• Participate in team meetings, audits, inspections, and hazard identification activities.
• Support operational leaders in implementing and maintaining training systems.
• Apply relevant HSEC policies, procedures, and legislation in daily work.
