Job summary

Perth Underground Power in the Greater Perth Area is seeking a skilled Cable Layer to install and protect underground electrical and communications cables across a range of projects.

You will prepare work sites, install conduits and cables, operate hand and power tools, assist with cable hauling and testing, and adhere to drawings, work packs and project specifications. A current WA driver’s licence and Construction White Card are essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in underground cable laying or electrical infrastructure.
• Experience on subdivisions, civil works or NBN/Western Power projects is advantageous.
• Knowledge of cable types, routing, conduit systems and protection requirements.
• Ability to read drawings, site plans and installation instructions.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Current WA driver’s licence and Construction White Card are essential.
• Additional tickets such as First Aid, confined space, EWP, dogging or HR licence are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install, pull, lay, secure and protect underground LV, HV and communications cables.
• Assist with cable hauling, drum handling and conduit proving.
• Support jointing, termination and testing activities as directed.
• Prepare work sites, including trenching, conduit installation and backfill readiness.
• Read and follow drawings, cable schedules and supervisor instructions.
• Operate hand tools, power tools and relevant cable-installation equipment safely.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area and complete records.
• Work with the crew to deliver projects safely and on programme.
