Job summary

Peabody is seeking an experienced Outbye Belt Fitter to join the Centurion Mine team in Australia. This hands-on role focuses on underground conveyor belt systems, fault finding and maintenance to keep production running safely and efficiently.

You will work with the Outbye team under the Outbye Superintendent, performing planned and breakdown maintenance, belt tracking and splicing, and contributing to reliability improvements in a long-life mining operation.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' experience as a Mechanical Technician/Fitter within underground mining operations.
• Extensive experience maintaining underground conveyor belt systems.
• Experience installing and replacing belt clips.
• Strong experience with conveyor maintenance and troubleshooting, gearboxes and drives, pulley replacement, belt tracking and alignment.
• Experience with production and drift conveyors, mains belts and overland systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance across underground conveyor systems.
• Inspect, maintain and repair conveyor belts, drive units, gearboxes, rollers and pulleys.
• Carry out belt tracking, splicing, clip replacement and belt repairs.
• Replace worn or damaged conveyor components and diagnose mechanical failures.
• Identify opportunities to improve conveyor reliability and reduce downtime.
• Support reliability initiatives and shutdown planning and execution.
• Complete pre-start inspections and manage risk for maintenance activities.
• Record equipment history and maintenance in the Maintenance Management System.
