Job summary

Peabody Energy is seeking an experienced Outbye Belt Fitter for Centurion Mine in Queensland. The role focuses on inspection, maintenance, repair and optimisation of underground conveyor belt systems to keep the conveying infrastructure safe, reliable and productive.

You will work in a hands-on underground environment reporting to the Outbye Superintendent, bringing strong belt knowledge, fault-finding skills and a safety-first approach to a high-production operation with long-term mine life.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' experience as a Mechanical Technician or Fitter within underground mining.
• Extensive experience maintaining underground conveyor belt systems.
• Experience installing and replacing belt clips.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault finding for conveyors.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Safety leadership and risk management capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• FIFO/relocation flexibility encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance across underground conveyors.
• Inspect, maintain and repair belts, drive units, gearboxes, rollers, pulleys and idlers.
• Carry out belt tracking, splicing, clip replacement and belt repairs.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and replace worn components.
• Identify opportunities to improve conveyor reliability and reduce downtime.
• Support reliability improvement initiatives and shutdown planning.
• Record equipment history and maintenance in the Maintenance System.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and maintenance teams for safe operations.
