Job summary

MMG is seeking an experienced Diesel/Tyre Fitter to join the Dugald River Mine maintenance team. You will inspect, fit, and maintain tyres on heavy mobile equipment, while ensuring safety and environmental standards, with an 8/6 roster and potential FIFO from several locations.

You will also manage tyre records in SAP and work with the maintenance crew to prioritise tasks, contributing to a low-carbon, efficient mining operation at Dugald River.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification or certification in tyre fitting.
• Experience in OTR Tyre maintenance with underground operations (>2 years).
• Knowledge of tyre types, sizes, and mining specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tyres and rims for wear, damage and defects to safety standards.
• Fit, remove, rotate and repair tyres on heavy mining equipment.
• Perform regular tyre pressure checks and adjustments.
• Maintain tyre records in SAP and other systems.
• Follow MMG safety protocols including hazard identification and incident reporting.
• Collaborate with maintenance team to prioritise tyre-related tasks.
• Ensure proper disposal of used tyres and waste materials.

We currently have a fantastic career opportunity available for an experienced Diesel/Tyre Fitter to join our Maintenance team at Dugald River Mine.

Reporting to the Supervisor, you will provide maintenance support to the Dugald River Mine operations.

This role is based on an 8/6 days only roster, bus in bus out from Cloncurry or Mount Isa. FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane may be considered for exceptional candidates.

• Inspect tyres and rims for wear, damage, and defects, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Perform tyre fitting, removal, rotation, and repairs on heavy mobile equipment, including trucks, loaders, and other mining machinery.
• Conduct regular pressure checks and adjustments to optimize tyre performance and extend lifespan.
• Maintain accurate records of tyre usage, repairs, and replacements in systems such as SAP.
• Adhere to MMG's safety protocols, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize and complete tyre-related tasks effectively.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards, including proper disposal of used tyres and waste materials.

About the Candidate

• Relevant trade qualification or certification in tyre fitting (e.g., Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology or equivalent).
• Experience in OTR Tyre maintenance with underground operations (>2 years)
• Knowledge of tyre types, sizes, and specifications used in mining operations.
• Crane, gantry, forklift, etc tickets an advantage.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP) for record-keeping and reporting.

Remuneration for this role includes a competitive salary package, annual bonus and generous local allowances for employees living in the local community of Cloncurry and Mt Isa.
