Job summary

MMG Limited is seeking a Ventilation Engineer for Dugald River, to provide deep expertise in mine ventilation designs and collaborate with operations and group functions. The role supports budget alignment and strategic objectives and offers bus-in bus-out options from Cloncurry or Mount Isa, or FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville on an 8/6 roster.

The candidate will bring qualifications in ventilation/mining engineering, safety focus, and experience in underground metalliferous mine ventilation

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Ventilation, Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Ventilation Officer Certificate of Competency QLD - desirable or willing to obtain.
• Unwavering commitment to workplace safety.
• Experience in Underground metalliferous mine ventilation design, simulation, survey, monitor and reporting.
• Knowledge of ventilation equipment selection, construction and maintenance requirements.
• Underground hard rock mining methods, including drill and blast.
• Senior Engineers also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Statutory appointed Ventilation Officer.
• Improve ventilation practices with site teams and ensure standards are met.
• Conduct underground inspections and surveys to coach and improve ventilation practices.
• Provide strategic ventilation updates to management and crews.
• Assist in optimization of fans and maintenance stocks and records.
• Collaborate with Mine Technical Services to optimize mine designs and ventilation considerations.
• Forecast capex and vent demand aligning with mining workload.
• Contribute to Quarterly Forecasts, Budget and 3 Year Plans.
• Assist in long-term ventilation design reviews as part of Ore Reserve reporting.

Ventilation Engineer

Support the Dugald River operations in delivering their budget and strategic objectives by providing timely and deep expertise in mine ventilation designs - including interaction with Mine operations and other group functions.

The role is available on a bus-in bus-out basis (BIBO) from the Cloncurry or Mount Isa Districts or FIFO (Brisbane or Townsville). The role will operate on an 8/6 roster.

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Ventilation, Mining Engineering or related discipline
• Ventilation Officer Certificate of Competency QLD - desirable or willing to obtain
• An unwavering commitment to workplace safety.
• Experience in Underground metalliferous mine ventilation design, simulation, survey, monitor and reporting.
• Sound knowledge on ventilation equipment selection, construction, and maintenance requirements.
• Underground hard rock mining methods, including drill and blast

Key responsibilities will include:

• Statutory appointed Ventilation Officer
• Work with the site teams to improve primary and secondary ventilation practices, ensuing acceptable ventilation standards are being met and adhered too.
• Carry out regular underground inspections and survey to coach and improve ventilation understanding and practices, ensuring clear communications are made
• Provide mine operations teams with strategic ventilation updates, both to management and crews.
• Work on improvements to primary and secondary fans and assist mine operations, maintenance in maintaining necessary stocks, records, data of fans
• Work with Mine Technical Services teams to optimise mine designs and ventilation considerations and necessary infrastructure.
• Forecast capital expenditure and vent demand in conjunction with mining workload, while matching primary and secondary ventilation delivered to ensure safe operations.
• Provide input and reporting into Quarterly Forecasts, Budget and 3 Year Plans
• Work with Principal mining engineer in the design and review of long term ventilation designs as part of the annual Ore Reserve reporting and Life of Mine planning.
