Job summary

Svitzer Australia is seeking a Tug Engineer to keep vessels running safely and reliably. You will report to the Tug Master and maintain engine and deck systems, support winch operations and uphold safety standards aboard our towage fleet.

Ideal candidates have marine engineering qualifications, CPR/First Aid, and a proactive safety mindset, with willingness to work in Australia. This role offers competitive pay and benefits with opportunities to contribute to high-performing teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or equivalent
• Valid AMSA Medical matching your certificate
• Current Provide First Aid and CPR certificates
• Solid knowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems and auxiliary equipment
• Experience in towage to tug operations is advantageous
• Strong focus on safety and following procedures
• Calm, clear thinking and adaptability to changing conditions
• Right to live and work in Australia

Responsibilities

• Maintaining onboard machinery, including engine and deck equipment
• Carrying out maintenance and repair of marine systems and equipment
• Supporting safe and effective winch operation during towage jobs
• Identifying and reporting defects promptly to keep operations on track
• Preparing maintenance records and operational reports as required
• Ensuring compliance with safety procedures, regulations and company policies
• Assisting on deck when needed to support crew and vessel operations
• Participating in drills, training and skills development
