Job summary

Qualifications

• 1. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.
• 2. Demonstrated experience in complex trauma and trauma informed practice, preferably within a Violence, Abuse & Neglect (e.g. sexual assault, child protection or domestic violence) or related setting.
• 3. Demonstrated assessment and case management skills with children, young people and adults.
• 4. Demonstrated understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
• 5. Demonstrated understanding of intergenerational trauma and the principles of cultural safety, with experience in (or commitment to) providing culturally responsive services to individuals and families.
• 6. Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in collaboration and partnership with a wide range of key internal and external stakeholders.
• 7. Knowledge and understanding of the legal systems, legislation and policies & procedures relating to violence, abuse and neglect.
• 8. Current NSW Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• 1. Manage and coordinate sexual assault referrals from first contact through to allocation, ensuring timely and responsive service delivery.
• 2. Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide short-term counselling, advocacy and case management for clients experiencing the impacts of sexual assault and related trauma.
• 3. Participate in a 24-hour on-call roster supporting people who have recently experienced sexual assault.
• 4. Collaborate with sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection professionals to deliver integrated, holistic and trauma-informed care.
• 5. Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining high-quality documentation, data collection and reporting.
