Job summary

Western Sydney Local Health District – Blacktown NSW is seeking a Crisis Support Counsellor within the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service. You will deliver crisis counselling and trauma-informed care to people affected by sexual assault and domestic violence, working from Blacktown Community Health Centre.

You will join a specialist, trauma-informed multidisciplinary team with opportunities for professional development and supervision, contributing to integrated service delivery

Qualifications

• Demonstrated counselling experience in complex trauma and trauma-informed practice within Violence, Abuse & Neglect settings.
• Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and adults.
• Understanding of intergenerational trauma and cultural safety principles; experience in culturally responsive services.

Responsibilities

• Deliver crisis counselling, advocacy, support and information to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
• Facilitate access to medical and forensic services with key stakeholders.
• Provide short-term case management, risk assessment and psychosocial support for clients with complex needs.
• Participate in a 24-hour on-call roster for adults and young people after recent sexual assault.
• Contribute to integrated care through joint case management, referrals and capacity-building initiatives.
