Job summary

Blue Sky Community Services is seeking a full‑time Family Practitioner to join the Families Together team in the Groundworks, Coffs Harbour area. The role is fixed‑term until 30 June 2031 and sits at SCHADS Level 4.

The position requires travel within the region and participation in a 24/7 on‑call roster with on‑call allowances. The successful candidate will support families to keep children safe, work trauma-informed and family‑centred, and collaborate with DCJ and partners across the Mid North

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline.
• First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake training.
• Willingness to travel within local area.
• Ability to align behaviours and conduct with organisation values.
• Strong knowledge of Family Preservation systems and DCJ.
• Commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Ability to learn and use ICT systems, including MS Office and databases.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe at home with their families, preventing removal and future involvement with child protection.
• Work intensively with children and families using strengths-based, trauma-informed, child-centred practice to build safety and resilience.
• Assess and respond to child safety and wellbeing risks, including domestic violence and substance use.
• Develop, implement, and review family-led case plans to improve outcomes in parenting, education, health and wellbeing.
• Coordinate with DCJ and community partners to deliver integrated support for families.
• Maintain accurate case documentation and contribute to program outcomes and reporting.
