UnitingCare Queensland is seeking an Adult Domestic and Family Violence Counsellor and Court Support Practitioner to deliver trauma-informed counselling to adult victim-survivors across the Port Douglas–Daintree catchment, including court support, risk assessment and safety planning.

You will work across Mossman/Daintree region in the new DFV Counselling Service, offering centre-based, court-based, outreach and virtual services with a focus on safeguarding and collaboration with courts and

Qualifications

• Degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science, Human Services or related discipline.
• Eligibility for professional registration (AASW/APS/ACA/PACFA/ACWA or equivalent).
• Experience providing specialist counselling or therapeutic support for domestic and family violence.
• Knowledge of coercive control, trauma-informed practice and DFV risk assessment.
• Understanding of Queensland DFV court processes.
• Ability to provide court information without legal advice.
• Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment in high-risk situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to culturally safe practice with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and diverse communities.

Responsabilités

• Provide trauma-informed, person-centred counselling to adult victim-survivors of DFV.
• Complete assessments, DFV risk screening and safety planning.
• Develop and review therapeutic and safety plans.
• Apply evidence-informed counselling approaches matched to client needs.
• Provide practical and emotional support before, during and after court.
• Explain court processes and arrange independent legal advice where needed.
• Coordinate warm referrals with courts, police, health and community services.
• Maintain confidential client records and reports.
• Engage in supervision and ongoing professional development.
