Job summary

Knowmore Legal Service in Perth seeks an Intake Officer who will be the first point of contact for survivor clients. You will deliver accessible telephone, online, and face-to-face services to inform clients about Knowmore’s programs, gather information on legal issues, and identify and action needs through referrals to in-house and external services.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to engage with clients affected by complex trauma and provide trauma-informed support.
• Knowledge of child sexual abuse dynamics and related legal and social consequences.
• Experience in delivering culturally safe services to Indigenous and CALD communities.
• Strong IT skills with client databases, file management, and accurate records keeping.
• Experience in appointment booking management.
• Experience with digital telephone and online chat systems.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with ability to prioritise tasks.
• Strong interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders and teams.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to confidentiality and Knowmore practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide accessible intake services via phone and face-to-face; identify, prioritise, and action needs.
• Develop trust and safety with clients; document results and assess risk.
• Expedite service delivery when required and refer appropriately.
• Obtain information to identify legal needs and support Knowmore's legal team.
• Identify potential financial counselling needs and refer to the financial team.
• Ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement services are available.
• Provide social work and counselling support and liaise with clients.
• Document all client interactions promptly and accurately.
• Assist with referrals to external agencies and services.
• Inform callers about Knowmore's services and build partner relationships.
