Job summary

Life Without Barriers in Australia seeks a Behaviour Support Specialist (Therapeutic Specialist) to coordinate and deliver high-quality assessment, consultive and referral services for Children & Young People with complex trauma, abuse or neglect. The role includes therapeutic supervision, practice support and reflective sessions.

This permanent full-time position offers flexible hybrid work arrangements with monthly home visits in Dubbo.

Qualifications

• Requires tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, mental health nursing or related discipline.
• Current registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body.

Responsibilities

• Lead therapeutic assessments and planning through comprehensive assessments and Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Develop and support implementation of relevant therapeutic support plans, such as Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Provide therapeutic expertise and guidance to support managers with reflective practice; facilitate strategies to prevent/respond to pain-based behaviour.
• Develop working knowledge of CARE and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) models to deliver training as required.
• Advocate for ethical, evidence-informed therapeutic practice aligned with CARE and TCI models.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
