Job summary

VE Group in Ipswich is seeking experienced Transport Operators for a growing SEQ fleet. Based from our Ipswich depot, you will operate Truck & Quad combinations across Southeast Queensland, using an 18-speed Road Ranger gearbox and following fatigue and safety rules.

Key duties include pre-start checks, loading/unloading support with the Logistics Supervisor, and precise reversing and manoeuvring in tight spaces. Candidates should have HC/MC licences and 2–5 years’ experience.

Qualifications

• Current HC or MC licence is required.
• 2–5 years' heavy vehicle driving experience.
• Experience operating Truck & Quad combinations.
• Competency with an 18-speed manual Road Ranger gearbox.
• Ability to reverse, manoeuvre and jack-knife safely and accurately.
• Strong understanding of heavy vehicle safety and fatigue management.
• Knowledge of NHVAS and transport industry basics.
• Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating Truck & Quad combinations across Southeast Queensland.
• Operate vehicles with an 18-speed manual Road Ranger transmission.
• Reverse, position and manoeuvre Truck & Quad combinations in confined areas.
• Demonstrate precise positioning of a Truck & Quad combination when required.
• Couple/uncouple trailers safely and efficiently.
• Assist loading/unloading with the Logistics Supervisor.
• Complete pre-start checks and transport documentation.
• Comply with fatigue management, CoR and safety regulations.

About the Role

Based from our Ipswich depot, this role involves operating Truck & Quad combinations throughout Southeast Queensland.

Key responsibilities include:

• Safely operating Truck & Quad combinations in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
• Operating vehicles fitted with an 18-speed manual Road Ranger transmission
• Reversing, positioning and manoeuvring Truck & Quad combinations in confined and operational areas
• Demonstrating the ability to accurately position a Truck & Quad combination where required
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers safely
• Working with the Logistics Supervisor to support loading and unloading activities
• Completing required pre-starts, checks and transport documentation
• Complying with fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility, safety and operational requirements

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:

• A current HC or MC licence
• Minimum 2–5 years' relevant heavy vehicle driving experience
• Demonstrated experience operating Truck & Quad combinations
• Competency operating an 18-speed manual Road Ranger gearbox
• Demonstrated ability to reverse, manoeuvre and jack-knife a Truck & Quad combination safely and accurately
• Strong understanding of heavy vehicle safety and fatigue management requirements
• General knowledge of NHVAS and the transport and logistics industry
• Ability to follow instructions and complete work within required timeframes
• Physical capability to perform the inherent requirements of the role
• Strong reliability, punctuality and professionalism
