Job summary

Cairns Regional Council is seeking a proactive OD Coordinator to coordinate training programs, support eLearning and promote development across the workforce. Based in Cairns, you will manage scheduling, communications, and liaison with staff and external providers within the Organisational Development function.

You will bring experience in HR, OD or training administration, with strong attention to detail, and be comfortable creating promotional materials and supporting eLearning content.

Qualifications

  • Experience in human resources, organisational development or training administration with ability to manage priorities and maintain detail.
  • Experience with eLearning systems, HRIS platforms and adult learning principles highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating training activities, including scheduling and liaising with staff and external providers.
  • Responding to enquiries relating to learning and development.
  • Promoting awareness of OD processes, systems and policies.
  • Creating promotional materials for OD initiatives and contributing to events and exhibitions.
  • Administering purchase orders, credit card transactions and financial records.
  • Providing administrative and project support across the Organisational Development function.
  • Contributing to the improvement of systems, practices and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records and data within OneCouncil and ensuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
  • Supporting best-practice use of OneCouncil self-service functions.
  • Undertaking simple to moderate projects as directed.
  • Completing other duties as required by the Coordinator Organisational Development.

Salary Range: $72,425.15 - $86,649.77 per annum

Position Type: Full Time, Permanent

Location: Council Chambers, 119-145 Spence Street, Cairns

Join our Organisational Development team and play a key role in delivering learning and development initiatives that strengthen capability across Council. This is a varied and rewarding opportunity to coordinate training programs, support eLearning and promote development initiatives that make a real difference in our workforce.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a proactive and organised team member who thrives in a client‑focused environment and enjoys supporting others. You’ll bring experience in human resources, organisational development, training administration or similar, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain strong attention to detail. You’ll be confident using a wide range of computer applications and comfortable creating promotional materials and assisting with eLearning content. Strong communication skills, relationship‑building capability and a professional, ethical approach are essential. Experience with eLearning systems, Human Resource Information System platforms and adult learning principles will be highly regarded.

What you’ll be doing

Coordinating training activities, including scheduling, communication and liaising with staff at all levels and external training providers.

Responding to internal and external enquiries relating to learning and development.

Supporting our employees by promoting awareness of OD processes, systems and policies.

Creating promotional materials for OD initiatives and contributing to events, seminars and exhibitions.

Administering purchase orders, credit card transactions and financial records.

Providing administrative and project support across the Organisational Development function.

Contributing to the improvement of systems, practices and procedures.

Maintaining accurate records, training files and data within OneCouncil and ensuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements.

Supporting best‑practice use of OneCouncil self‑service functions.

Undertaking simple to moderate projects as directed.

Completing other duties as required by the Coordinator Organisational Development.
