Job summary

Building Industry Training Pty Ltd (BIT) seeks full-time Carpentry Trainers for Central Queensland, including Rockhampton region. You will work with apprentices and trainees, delivering practical and theoretical training, with travel to worksites and access to company vehicles.

You will need a current carpentry qualification, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and a White Card; Blue Card if required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a carpentry trade qualification.
• Must hold or be prepared to immediately obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• White Card required; Blue Card or eligibility to obtain one.
• Current driver’s licence and ability to drive to sites.
• Proficient with MS Office and basic computer skills.
• Eligible to work in Australia (Citizenship/PR).
• Pass a National Police Check.
• Physically able to perform on-site training activities.

Responsibilities

• Work with apprentices/trainees to improve skills and knowledge.
• Tutor apprentices from practical and theoretical projects.
• Visit students on site or conduct group training at facilities.
• Maintain currency of qualifications and update training materials.
• Complete site visits and document training activities and assessments.
• Mentor students with practical training and support across topics.
• Facilitate development of new training and assessment resources.
• Perform RPL assessments.

Trainer and Assessor - Carpentry (Central Queensland)

Building Industry Training – Rockhampton QLD

BIT is seeking full time carpentry trainers for the Central Queensland region. Trainers will work with apprentices and trainees to improve their skills and knowledge, delivering both practical and theoretical training. Travel to worksites is a necessary part of the role, and full time trainers are supplied with work vehicles. Trainers may use any of BIT's offices to meet and complete paperwork, with a requirement to visit the Gold Coast headquarters at least once a month to meet with the Training Manager and/or team leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Work with apprentices/trainees to assist in improving their skills and knowledge
• Tutor apprentices from a range of practical and theoretical projects
• Visit students on site and/or conduct group training at facilities depending on student needs
• Maintain the currency of qualifications and assist in the review and adaptation of existing training materials to maintain their relevance and currency
• Complete site visits, document training activities and assessments
• Act as a mentor by providing practical training and support to students on a range of topics based on trade qualification
• Facilitate and assist in the development of new training and assessment resources
• Perform RPL assessments

About you

• Hold a current qualification in the relevant trade
• Hold or be prepared to immediately obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
• Hold current industry skills and experience in the relevant trade
• Hold a current White Card
• Be able to obtain a Blue Card or currently hold a Blue Card
• Current Driver's licence
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and computers
• Excellent verbal and communication skills
• Demonstrate mathematical and written skills as required to meet the requirements of your trade
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Visa
• Pass a National Police Check
• Be physically able to conduct the activities required of an on-site trainer and assessor in the relevant trade
• A confident, calm and patient nature with an outgoing personality
• Strong interpersonal skills and a team player who will maintain the organisation's reputation in delivering quality training
