Job summary

Australian Laboratory Services Pty Ltd is seeking multiple Trainee Sample Preparers for our Geochemistry site in Burnie. This casual role involves working in a fast-paced laboratory environment with mine and exploration clients, performing sample preparation and handling dusty conditions with mandatory PPE.

Training is provided, and a rotating roster is required. Ideal candidates are physically fit, meticulous, able to follow procedures, and capable of working in a high‑performance team focused

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow set procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and reliability.
• Physically fit and able to perform repetitive manual handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate sample preparation equipment per procedures.
• Sort samples according to client submission form, note discrepancies.
• Apply barcode labels and capture sample weights in Gems.
• Transfer scanned samples to drying racks.
• Crush, riffle, split, and sieve samples as directed before drying.
• Operate pulverizing mills to meet end-product specs.
• Report issues to supervisor promptly.
• Maintain machinery and keep work areas clean.
