Job summary

Australian Laboratory Services Pty Ltd (ALS) seeks Trainee Sample Preparers at our Geochemistry site in Townsville. You will prepare samples for testing, operate in a dusty environment, and support mining and exploration clients across Queensland.

The role is physically demanding, requires full-time availability on rotating rosters, and offers full training with potential for progression within the department.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow set procedures.
• Strong attention to detail is essential.
• Reliable, physically fit and able to perform repetitive manual handling.
• Willing to work as part of a high-performance team focusing on quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate sample preparation equipment in line with QWIs.
• Sort and record sample submissions, noting discrepancies.
• Apply barcode labels and record sample weights in Gems interface.
• Transfer scanned samples to drying racks and perform crushing, riffle, splitting and sieving.
• Operate pulverising mills to meet end-product specifications.
• Inform supervisor of any issues (e.g., wet samples, equipment faults).
• Maintain machinery and keep work areas clean and safe.
