Cool Rentals is seeking a hands-on Trainee Fleet Manager to join our dynamic team in Dandenong South. You will coordinate fleet servicing, manage vehicle readiness and work with customers, suppliers and the Cool Rentals team to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate fleet servicing, repairs and maintenance.

• Coordinate with mechanics, suppliers and customers.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.

Cool Rentals is looking for a Trainee Fleet Manager to join our supportive team and develop a career in fleet management coordinating our refrigerated trucks and vans across two Melbourne depots

No mechanical qualifications are required, we're looking for someone with initiative, leadership potential and a willingness to learn. You will also be someone with a can-do attitude, great people skills and an eye for detail who enjoys being out and about rather than sitting behind a desk all day.

About the role

This is a hands-on, fast-paced and varied role where no two days are exactly the same. You'll be responsible for keeping the fleet safe, compliant, clean, well-presented and ready for customers — while working closely with suppliers, customers and the wider Cool Rentals team.

Key responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating fleet servicing, repairs and maintenance
• Inspecting vehicles and identifying damage, defects and maintenance requirements
• Ensuring vehicles meet Cool Rentals' presentation and quality standards
• Ensuring vehicles and components are safe, compliant and operational
• Coordinating with mechanics, suppliers, customers and other service providers
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers
• Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance such as changing globes, fitting reflectors, and performing other small repairs
• Preparing vehicles for hire and ensuring they're clean, safe and ready to go
• Assisting with vehicle deliveries and collections
• Cleaning vehicles when required
• Answering phones and assisting customers with enquiries
• Problem-solving issues as they arise - both proactively and reactively
• Supporting the wider team with day-to-day operational requirements
• Using computer systems to manage fleet requirements and maintain accurate records

You will ideally be:

• Customer-focused with previous customer service or retail experience
• A confident communicator who can deal professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues
• Practical and hands-on, with a willingness to get stuck in
• Highly organised with a strong eye for detail
• Proactive, adaptable and flexible
• Comfortable working independently but equally happy working as part of a team
• Confident using computers, phones and basic systems
• Reliable, responsible and able to take ownership of tasks
• Positive, upbeat and someone who brings a "can-do" attitude to work every day
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change
• Physically comfortable with a role that involves being on your feet and working around vehicles
• A current and valid driver's licence
