Isaac Regional Council is offering a Trainee Finance Officer position within our Financial Services team, based in Clermont, Moranbah, Nebo or Middlemount. Commencing on Monday 18 January 2027, this fixed-term traineeship lets you gain practical experience while you earn an income and complete a Certificate III in Business.

You’ll assist with accounts payable/receivable, support reporting and data entry, and provide professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

• Proficient with basic computer programs, including Microsoft Office.

About the role

As a Trainee Finance Officer, you’ll:

• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial record keeping.
• Support reporting, data entry and reconciliation tasks.
• Provide professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Complete your Certificate III in Business with full training and mentoring support.

Role at a glance

Type: Fixed Term – 12 months
Hours: Full-time, 72.5 hours per fortnight
Rate: $36.33 per hour
Roster: Monday to Friday, 9-day fortnight (hello long weekends!)

Who we’re looking for

• Have strong attention to detail and enjoy working with numbers.
• Are confident using basic computer programs, including Microsoft Office.
• Communicate clearly and enjoy working as part of a team.
• Have completed Year 10 or higher.
• Hold a current driver’s licence (desirable but not essential).
• Earn while you learn and complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Business.
• Gain hands-on experience in finance within a supportive team.
• Open doors to future career opportunities in local government or corporate finance.
• Live and work locally within our Region.
