Job summary

Aurizon's Coppabella depot is seeking expressions of interest from safety-focused individuals who would like to undertake training to become a locomotive driver. You will learn new skills and apply classroom knowledge to become a professional train operator.

Key requirements include a strong safety focus, superior teamwork, and availability to commence training in March 2027 for an extended period away from home. The program includes 24x7 shifts and comprehensive assessment steps.

Qualifications

• Safety-focused mindset required.
• Willingness to undertake locomotive driver training.
• Commitment to the training program starting March 2027 for ~9 months.
• Able to be away from home during extended training periods.

About the role

Aurizon's Coppabella depot is seeking expressions of interest from safety focused individuals who would like undertake training to become a locomotive driver. To excel in this position you will relish to opportunity to learn new skills and put into practice what you are taught in the classroom to become a professional train operator.

• 24x7 rotating shift roster 365 days a year including nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Apply theoretical knowledge from training to practical operation.
• Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures
• Undertake Locomotive driver training and successfully complete modules.

About you

You are reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to safety and a willingness to train to become a professional train driver with Aurizon.

• All-encompassing focus on safety along with great interpersonal skills
• Superior teamwork skills
• Be available to commence March 2027 and not have any prior commitments for the first 9 months of the training program.
• Be available to be away from home for training for extended periods.
