Job summary

The City of Canterbury Bankstown Council is seeking a Traffic Services Officer to deliver high-quality customer service on traffic management, parking and road safety within the Council's road network. You will contribute to improvement projects, prepare reports and engage with the community on traffic matters.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or related field, with traffic experience.
• Class C driver's license and WHS Construction White Card.
• Knowledge of Transport for NSW guidelines, Australian Road Rules, Austroads and standards.
• Strong report writing and community consultation skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate requests and propose actions for future works programs.
• Draft Traffic Committee and Council reports.
• Conduct community consultations on traffic and road safety.
• Review development proposals and traffic management memos.
• Process work zone, driveway, filming, events and road closure applications.
• Support delivery program planning for traffic projects and identify improvement needs.

We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.

The Role

The Traffic Services Officer will provide a high level of customer service in relation to traffic management, parking and road safety as well as contribute to the improvement of traffic management and road safety on Council's road network.

*This opportunity will be offered on a Permanent full-time basis.

Duties will include, but are not be limited to:

• Investigate requests, provide responses and make recommendations to include in future works programs or initiate maintenance works as necessary.
• Draft Traffic Committee and Council reports.
• Carry out community consultation process in relation to traffic and road safety matters.
• Review Development Proposals and draft memos addressing traffic management aspects.
• Process work zone, driveway access linemarking, filming, special events and road closure applications etc.
• Assist in processing standing plant applications. Assist with the development and implementation of Council's Delivery Program and Operational Plan in relation to traffic management projects.
• Identify both short and long term traffic management improvement needs to meet Council's future strategic outcomes.
• Investigate projects including preparation of traffic studies and maintain an up-to-date and relevant, prioritised Delivery Program for traffic infrastructure

You will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or in related field / Extensive Traffic Engineering experience with other tertiary qualification
• Class C Drivers Licence
• WH&S Construction White Card
• Demonstrated knowledge of Transport for NSW (RMS) Guidelines, Australian Road Rules, Australian Standards and Austroads and experience in traffic and transport management, and road safety
• High-level skills in report writing and correspondence
• Demonstrated ability to consult the community, and assess and prioritise traffic needs within a strategic planning environment
• Demonstrated well-developed computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD and experience in using traffic modelling software such as SIDRA Intersection 6 Network

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $108,644 (Grade H, Step 1) + CLA + 12 % super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
