Job summary

Public Sector People is seeking a Traffic Engineer for a 12‑month contract in Sydney, NSW. The role involves assessing traffic concerns, conducting studies, and designing safety improvements across road networks.

You will review Development Applications for traffic and parking impacts, provide expert guidance, and perform site inspections to enhance road safety and network performance within local government contexts.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Traffic Engineering and eligible to become a Corporate Member of Engineers Australia.
• Minimum 12 months experience in a Traffic Engineering position for local government.

Responsibilities

• Investigate traffic-related concerns and conduct traffic studies to design safety improvements such as signage, line marking, speed calming devices, and intersection upgrades.
• Review Development Applications to assess traffic and parking impacts, access design, and conditions of consent where necessary.
• Investigate community traffic requests, conduct site inspections, and develop solutions to enhance road safety and network performance.

Pay rate: Up to $85 p/h + Super

Responsibilities

• Investigate traffic-related concerns raised by residents or stakeholders, conduct traffic studies (e.g., speed, volume, accident analysis), and design safety improvements such as signage, line marking, speed calming devices, and intersection upgrades.
• Review and provide expert traffic engineering advice on Development Applications, including assessing traffic and parking impacts, access design, and recommending conditions of consent where necessary.
• Investigate traffic requests by the community, conduct site inspections and traffic studies, and develop solutions to enhance road safety and network performance.

Essential

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Traffic Engineering, and eligible to become a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia
• Minimum 12 months experience in a Traffic Engineering position for local government
