Job summary

NIT is seeking a reliable Trades Assistant / Labourer to join our APY Lands Remote Maintenance Services team. This hands-on role supports tradespeople across maintenance, repairs and small projects, keeping community housing and facilities safe and well maintained in remote Australia.

You'll work outdoors, assisting with air-conditioning maintenance, landscaping, drainage, and general labouring, using power tools and operating equipment.

Qualifications

• Current Driver's Licence; heavy vehicle licence is helpful.
• White Card or ability to obtain one.
• Work Safely at Heights certificate within 2 years.
• Relevant tickets for labouring/maintenance.
• Experience in labouring, construction or maintenance environments.
• Physically demanding work capability.

Job description

We're looking for a reliable and hardworking Trades Assistant / Labourer to join our Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands Remote Maintenance Services team.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys physical work, variety and working outdoors. You'll support our tradespeople across a range of maintenance, repairs and minor project works, helping keep community housing and facilities safe, functional and well maintained.

No two days are the same (yeah, yeah, all job ads say that, but it's true!). One day you may be assisting with air-conditioning maintenance, the next helping complete landscaping works, supporting repairs, operating power tools or assisting a trade crew on a small project. All the while enjoying one of the most unique regions of Australia, somewhere that 99.9 of the population will never see.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other trades

Performing general labouring and maintenance tasks

Assisting with air-conditioning maintenance

Mowing, brush cutting and general grounds maintenance

Tree trimming and vegetation management

Unblocking drains and assisting with sewer maintenance

What You’ll Bring

Current Driver's Licence (heavy vehicle licence would be good but it's not required)
