Job summary

Southcott is looking for a reliable, mechanically minded Trades Assistant to join our Sydney Branch.

You don’t need previous hose or hydraulics experience. If you’re practical, comfortable using basic hand tools and keen to learn, we’ll provide the training you need to develop your skills.

About the role

You’ll work as part of our branch team, supporting the manufacture and preparation of hydraulic hose assemblies, customer orders, stock movements and general workshop activities.

It’s a varied, practical role suited to someone who enjoys working with tools, takes pride in doing things properly and wants the opportunity to build a career in the hydraulics industry.

What you’ll do

• Learn to manufacture hydraulic hose assemblies
• Measure, cut and prepare hoses and components
• Operate workshop equipment following training
• Pick, pack and prepare customer orders
• Assist customers at the trade counter
• Receive, organise and put away stock
• Complete basic job documentation and data entry
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop
• Assist experienced team members with workshop activities

What we’re looking for

Hydraulics experience isn’t essential. We’re looking for someone who brings:

• A practical approach
• Mechanical aptitude and confidence using basic hand tools
• A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Good attention to detail
• Basic math's and computer skills
• Clear communication and a helpful attitude
• A strong commitment to safety
• A current driver’s licence

Previous experience in a workshop, warehouse, manufacturing, mechanical or trade environment would be an advantage but isn’t essential.

A forklift or MR truck licence would also be beneficial but is not required.
